Become a CFA Volunteer

It is an exciting time to join CFA. Our volunteers play a key role in helping CFA to achieve its mission of protecting Victorian lives and property.

Being a CFA volunteer can involve some hard work, but the rewards are great.

You can:

• learn new skills that help you in your professional and personal life
• receive accredited training
• meet new friends
• be part of Victoria’s largest volunteer team
• achieve personal goals

• involve the whole family

CFA volunteers receive nationally-recognised and accredited training courses that can be beneficial in both personal and employment environments.

You don’t need to have experience to join the brigade. We will provide you with the skills you need depending on the role you choose. It may include:

• basic fireground practices
• pump operation
• fire safety awareness
• radio communications
• breathing apparatus
• leadership skills
• community education
• administration

All CFA members are fully trained before attending fires or other incidents.
